Policy Action Lab Foundation is registered as a Section 8 company under the Companies Act — a non-profit legal form under Indian law. It operates in compliance with the Companies Act, the Income Tax Act, and, where applicable, the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act (FCRA).
How the Foundation is funded
- Grants, donations, subscriptions and endowments from government bodies and philanthropic foundations
- CSR funding from corporates, subject to applicable law
- Special-purpose funds and reserves, held solely to advance the Foundation's objectives
No surplus or profit is distributed to members. Intellectual property generated through research is held in the Foundation's name and used strictly for charitable, non-commercial purposes.
